Commonly reported GenC structure
| Stage | What candidates report |
|---|---|
| Communication assessment | Spoken and written English screening, reported in recent drives |
| Aptitude | Quantitative questions, reported as about 30 questions in 30 minutes |
| Game-based or logical section | Reported as games and logical questions, with timing that varies |
| Technical / coding | Coding and technical questions, especially for higher tracks |
| Interview | Technical and HR discussion |
Third-party guides conflict and may describe different tracks or years. Cognizant does not publish one fixed pattern for all drives. Some sources also report that the test provider differs between on-campus and off-campus routes.
How to prepare when the pattern is not fixed
- Build the common base first: arithmetic, logical reasoning and spoken English help in every track.
- Know one programming language well enough to solve easy and medium problems under time.
- Revise DBMS, OOP and your own projects, as these commonly come up in interviews.
- Read your invitation email carefully, as it is the most reliable source for your round structure.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between GenC, GenC Elevate and GenC Pro?
They are different Cognizant fresher hiring tracks with different roles and assessment difficulty. Exact criteria change between drives, so check the official Cognizant careers page for the current details.
Does Tech6Sense have a Cognizant course?
Not yet. This is a free guide. The aptitude, reasoning and communication practice in our TCS and Capgemini courses overlaps with these skills, but it is not Cognizant-specific.
Why do websites show different Cognizant test patterns?
Patterns vary by track, year and campus or off-campus route, and many guides are based on candidate reports from a single drive.
